It is numbered Sand Point 3. jpg. This photo must have been made shortly after we left Sand Point in June or July of 1943, to return to Kodiak. We had constructed a pier which extended into the bay directly in front of the long two story building. Scattered lumber is noted in the foreground. We stored the lumber that area while the pier was under construction. The long two story building was our barracks. If you have every noticed a two story hotel in cowboy movies such as Gunsmoke you have seen our barracks. Individual rooms on either side of the corridor. We were 5 to a room. There is a winding road proceeding uphill just to the left of the barracks. There is a building above the first reverse turn. This was our mess hall. As you proceed further along the road remnants of Qounset huts are noted. The buildings between the barracks and the pier were used by the people maintaing our rolling equiptment The damaged area of the photo would reveal the pier and the base area for the Kingfisher group.
