Albert Knack

Fleet Air Wing FOUR

Al visited the Kodiak Military History Museum on August 11, 2004. He also visited the Baranov Museum and the base. His photo and an article appeared on the front page of the Kodiak Daily Mirror August 17, 2004.

Albert Knack served as an Airman Machinist Mate and plane captain with Fleet Air Wing 4 during World War II. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1948 then joined the Army. Al retired from the Army as a major in 1964. After a career with Hewlett-Packard as an electro-mechanical engineer he again retired in 1984. He resides in Santa Rosa California.

Sketches by Knack are in a book by Jeff Dickrell, Center of the Storm, about Navy seaplanes in World War II.
