The Univac 1531 mass storage adapter (Figure 3-52) converts two 30-bit words to five 12-bit disk controller words. It also provides logic level conversion for interfacing the Univac computer to the CDC logic levels needed to transfer the data to disk storage. Data recalled from disk storage is reconfigured from 5 12-bit disk storage words to two 30-bit computer words, with appropriate logic level conversion. The CDC-3234 disk controller (Figure 3-53) Controls the operation and data transfer to and from the disk storage. Sector address is used to read and write data into and out of storage. Equipment status and data error indicators are provided to the mass storage adapter.
