Kodiak Tracking Station is located in Alaska on the largest island in the Aleutian Chain. Modified Aircraft warning site in the early sixties to support primarily low altitude DOD Satellites, particularly Rev. one. KTS was a one sided station, eventually supporting medium altitude operations. Kodiak's call sign was KODI. KTS was deactivated in early 1973 due to Government Spending.
1.3.5 THULE TRACKING STATION (TTS)
Thule Tracking Station is located at Thule AFB, Greenland. TTS, the northern most-station, provides on orbit support for all polar orbiting satellites for most revolutions. A second Space Ground Link Subsystem (SGLS) is installed at the TTS and provides 0n-orbit support when connected to the Command Data Processing Area (CDPA) This is known as "Bentpipe Operation" The TTS call sign was POGO.
1.3.6 INDIAN OCEAN STATION (IOS)
The Indian Ocean Station (IOS), located on Mahe in the Sechelle Islands, provides on-orbit support and monitors orbit injection during high altitude satellite launches. IOS is the primary AFSCF station supporting the NASA orbital flights of the Space Shuttle. The IOS station is single sided and uses the call sign of INDI.
1.3.7 GUAM TRACKING STATION (GTS)
The Guam Tracking Station (GTS), located on the Island of Guam in the Western Pacific , provides on orbit satellite support for polar as well as synchronous and near - synchronous spacecraft. Guam's call sign is GUAM.
1.3.8 HAWAII TRACKING STATION (HTS)
Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station, also referred to as Hawaii Tracking Station (HTS), located on the island of Oahu. This tracking station is a dual station which provides ballistic missile flight support, in addition to on-orbit and recovery phase satellite support. HTS has a voice call sign of HULA.
1.3.9 TELEMETRY AND COMMAND STATION (TCS), OAKHANGER
TCS is a United Kingdom Site located at Borden Hauts near London, England. TCS is not part of the AFSCF assets, that is its ownership remains with the united Kingdom. TCS is not a complete station, it only has the Space Ground Link System (SGLS) installed; therefore, on-orbit satellite support can only be provided when connected to the Command and Data Processing Area at the Satellite Test Center. TCS voice call sign is LION.
